Based on feedback from customers over the past seven years, PSR is confident that a single-piece spout bowl in PSR-925 can achieve a life in excess of four years in most typical soda-lime container glass applications. Come and find out more at Glassman USA in Cleveland, Ohio on 6th – 9th June 2023.
PSR-925 provides optimum solution for long-life spout bowl.
Traditionally, spout bowls are made from zircon-mullite materials, with long-life options involving inserts in fused cast AZS or chrome oxide-derived materials. However, PSR-925 offers a superior alternative.
PSR-925 is based on zirconia; a highly refractory material that is not easily wetted by the siliceous glass, with the addition only of alumina grains and powders. With predictive process control (PPC) techniques and many adjustments made over its development period, PSR achieved a highly refractory, dense material that matches or even surpasses the corrosion characteristics of chrome oxide-based materials.
Using PSR-925 as a complete spout bowl, there is no need for a joint between two different refractory materials in a highly sensitive area before the forming operation. Moreover, it extends the life of the main body of the spout, a common problem with inserted spouts where the spout corrodes faster than the insert.
Based on feedback from customers over the past seven years, PSR is confident that a single-piece spout bowl in PSR-925 can achieve a life in excess of four years in most typical soda-lime container glass applications. PSR-925 has none of the environmental considerations inherent with some chromium-containing refractories and can be offered at a fraction of the price of a chrome-oxide-inserted spout.
We are excited to offer PSR-925 worldwide. It represents a breakthrough in refractory materials and offers superior corrosion resistance and extended service life at a fraction of the price of alternative options.
